"Poetry London, with support from the Arts Council, commissioned Sue in the summer of 2007 to advise on fundraising possibilities from charitable sources, and from individuals and businesses. She has provided us with a very comprehensive report indeed, one which is lucid and readable. It is a wonderful resource, a bank of information, which we can draw on for years to come and hopefully secure some substantial funding for the magazine."
Write2B was commissioned by Poetry London magazine in 2007-8 to develop a fundraising strategy for the charity. This involved three areas of work: charitable foundations; commercial sponsorship; and individual giving.
This first phase of the commission involved desk-based research exploring a wide variety of charitable trusts, foundations, Lottery funders and other funding organisations, and developing a strategy for raising funds from them. This phase also involved writing a draft three-year template bid which Poetry London could then adapt to the requirements of other funding bodies.
The second phase of the commission involved developing an individual giving strategy. In developing this strategy, Write2B drew on Arts & Business training and recommended approaches, and provided information on the psychology and rationale of individual giving.
The third phase of the commission involved developing a commercial sponsorship strategy. In developing this strategy, Write2B drew on Arts & Business training and recommended approaches, and touched upon issues such as Corporate Social Responsibility development and practice, and the importance of fully appreciating/valuing the cultural offer.
